1. Consider the size of the group and everyone's age

A weekend in a covered wagon can be amazing! You get back to basics in a place that's both original and cozy, surrounded by nature… But the experience won't be the same as a couple compared to as a family, for example. It obviously depends on everyone's pace and on whether you and your children can handle living in a small space for a few days. But you need to factor in the number of people, their age, and their personalities before choosing a rental, since otherwise you risk feeling cramped, which can create tension in some cases. And that's certainly not the point of a glamping vacation!

2. Think about the specifics of the region in France where the resort or campsite is located

You obviously can never control the weather, but think about sunshine and temperatures, especially if you're considering a bubble, a dome, or even a treehouse. The comfort of certain unusual accommodations, and therefore the comfort of your stay, depends heavily on climate conditions.

3. Choose based on the length of your stay

A weekend, a week, or longer? As a couple, for instance, most unusual accommodations will work regardless of how long your glamping getaway lasts. Here we move beyond pure practicality to focus on your personal preferences. There are many glamping options in France: luxury glamping, nature glamping, resort glamping, glamping in smaller setups via Airbnb… Here are a few useful questions to help narrow down your search:

• Do you want top-of-the-line furnishings, or accommodation with hotel-level comfort that still stays simple, using natural materials in keeping with the surrounding nature?
• Is a private spa an absolute must for you?
• Does the care given to the site's natural surroundings and its overall philosophy matter to you as much as the quality of the accommodation itself? If so, look out for certifications such as the European Ecolabel.
• Do you want access to amenities and services for a high-comfort stay? Activities, dining, bike rentals… If you're staying several days and know you won't spend all your time in your own little cocoon, this is worth thinking about.

After a night in your lodge, dive into our heated 450 m² pool, right in the heart of the pine forest. The 2,500 m² wooden terrace, the balneo area, and the splash pool invite you to enjoy the water at your own pace, from April to October.

Sports and slow-paced activities

Your glamping stay also happens outside your accommodation. Free yoga and pilates for guests, fatbike outings, nature walks, or pottery workshops: you choose the activity that suits you, somewhere between the urge to move and the need to slow down.

Cabane Bien-Être (wellness cabin)

Surf school

From Naturéo, Bourdaines beach is just a few minutes' walk away. Oxbow Surf School offers lessons for all levels starting at age 8, with certified instructors and equipment provided. A great way to discover the Landes coastline!

Dining

Glamping also leaves room for simple pleasures. At La Peña, enjoy Southwest French cuisine in a warm atmosphere, from 9 am to 10 pm. La Petite Épicerie and the snack bar also let you eat comfortably on your own terrace.

Bike rental

Joe Bike is set up right on-site at Naturéo. Classic bikes, e-bikes, mountain bikes, and fatbikes let you reach the beaches, the forest, and the bike paths straight from your accommodation, without needing to take the car.

FAQ about glamping in France

Are pets allowed while glamping?

Yes, sometimes, but not everywhere. It also depends on how accessible the accommodation is. Bringing your loyal four-legged friend up into an elevated treehouse can be tricky. The resort or campsite's own policy matters too. At Naturéo, your pets are welcome in all of our accommodations, both unusual and classic.

Is chic camping better as a couple or with the family?

Both work! But you really need to match the type of unusual accommodation to the number of people. For families, the best options are ground-level wooden cabins (not treehouses), lodge tents, large yurts, as well as cottages and mobile homes for a more classic camping experience.

Is the Naturéo Eco-Resort open all year round?

Naturéo welcomes guests from February through December. The Eco-Resort only closes during the month of January.
