Thomas had the kind of tiredness that comes from no longer knowing how to stop. Not just physical tiredness: that deeper kind of inner wear that settles in, especially when holidays start feeling like just another packed week. This year, he wanted things to be different, for himself and for his family. Just to breathe. To really breathe.

The moment he arrives at Naturéo, his shoulders drop

He arrives in Seignosse on a Friday afternoon and, before he has even parked the car, the first thing that strikes him is the scent. Resin, pine trees, that South-West air that feels different the second it wraps around you.

That is what Naturéo’s 13 hectares of pine forest do. Like a surprise that takes hold of the senses… The children, who had been bickering all the way from Bordeaux, suddenly fall silent, drawn in by the natural surroundings opening up before them. One of them spots the pond, the ducks gliding across the water, the pool tucked away among the pines. “Dad, look!” Thomas looks. For the first time in weeks, his mind is nowhere else.

Putting down the bags, and everything else with them

Thomas is surprised: the wooden cabin is spacious and cosy. It seems to reveal itself as though it had been waiting for them, with a private terrace overlooking the trees and an interior fitted with absolutely everything they need. They put down their bags, open the shutters, and that peaceful feeling settles in: nothing feels urgent anymore.

Thomas had been a little worried when booking. He wondered whether “eco-resort” might mean sacrificing comfort, rough-and-ready materials, or choosing good conscience over genuine wellbeing. He quickly understands that at Naturéo, everything is about balance, and you can feel it straight away.

Feeling peckish, craving something delicious… La Peña is just a few steps away

Nobody feels like cooking that evening. La Peña is just a short walk away, with its large terrace beneath the trees, wood-fired pizzas, tapas, and local wines that taste of the South-West. A proper restaurant, with the atmosphere of a village bar where people linger without needing a particular reason.

The children eat, run between the tables for a while, then come back. Thomas orders a second glass while his wife laughs at something he did not hear. At that exact moment, he realizes he has not looked at his phone in two hours. Something inside him begins to loosen.

The children switch off, the parents unwind

On the first morning, he wakes up without an alarm, with only birdsong to mark the start of the day. The pines are there, the sky filters through the branches like a melody inviting everything to soften.

Here, nobody tells him what to do. This is not a noisy holiday village. No schedule in the letterbox. No entertainer calling through a microphone. Everyone chooses their own pace, and for Thomas and his family, that changes everything.

The children head to the club, looked after by qualified activity leaders, with outdoor activities set in nature. Thomas drops them off with a calm certainty he had not expected: his little ones are safe, and they will have plenty of stories to tell him that evening. The rest of the day is finally his. He has not had time like this for himself in a very long while…

So he tries yoga. The teacher, trained in India, holds her classes by the pool or in the forest depending on the weather, and they are included for all guests. Thomas had never tried it before. He comes back the next day.

His wife, meanwhile, easily books an appointment at the Cabane Bien-Être: a relaxing massage followed by a craniofacial reflexology session. She had really wanted to treat herself to this moment. The practitioners are qualified, each with their own approach, and the treatments are tailored rather than taken from a standard catalogue.

In the afternoon, the spa and pool area draws them in: the large heated pool nestled in the greenery, quiet and surrounded by pine trees. Thomas stretches out on a comfortable lounger on the vast wooden terrace. He is not thinking about anything in particular… For someone who spends his days having to be there for everyone, having nothing to manage is already a form of luxury. A simple luxury, made even more beautiful by the shimmer of the water reflecting the trees.

Everything just a few pedal strokes away, with a lighter mind

The following morning, the whole family feels the urge to explore. They rent bikes from Joe Bike, the on-site partner, and head towards Les Bourdaines beach. 600 metres along a shaded path, and there it is: the sand, the sound of the waves, the Atlantic horizon, and that air filling their lungs. They stay there for a while, without trying to do anything else. Ah! Fat bikes ride past. He had been wanting to try those wide-wheeled bikes to explore the beaches, so that will be for the day after tomorrow.

Because that afternoon, they cycle to Hossegor in twenty minutes along the bike path, without a car, at their own pace. The market, the marine lake… There is plenty to enjoy. Then Capbreton the next day, its harbour, its pier, with the Pyrenees in the distance when the weather allows.

With 20 kilometres of marked cycle paths around Naturéo, the feeling of freedom is instant. No planning required, just getting on a bike and setting off.

What he takes home does not fit in a suitcase

On the last morning, Thomas finishes packing while the children negotiate one last trip to the pool. His wife finishes her coffee on the terrace and takes five more minutes. Nobody is really in a hurry.

In the car, on the way home, he stays quiet. But this silence is nothing like the usual Sunday evening silence. His face is that of someone who has finally relaxed.

He is already thinking about September. The waves would be better, the beaches less crowded. The pines, unchanged. Already, the idea of coming back feels very real.

What he takes with him weighs nothing in the luggage. And yet it is the most precious thing of all. A sense of ease he had not felt in a long time…

At Naturéo, this deep relaxation is often what our guests talk about most when they leave. And it is what brings them back. A timeless moment, where you reconnect with yourself and with nature, in the heart of a preserved environment where every member of the family finds their own happiness.
